Compensansation

A strange debt repayment began. Ku Tae-Gam, manager of the illegal loan company ‘Takatsu’. The only female employee, accountant Chae Hui-On. Change comes to them—supervisor and subordinate, nothing more, nothing less.

“My grandmother’s hospital bills are three months overdue.”

“Look elsewhere. I can’t lend you money even if you starve to death today.”

He refused outright, but Tae-Gam couldn’t stop thinking about Hui-On’s unexpectedly vulnerable side, something he’d never seen before. Then, he rescued Hui-On from danger and they ended up drinking together. While Tae-Gam slept drunk, he was kissed like a thief in the night.

Only much later did he realize that kiss was a ploy to learn the office safe’s password, but Tae-Gam couldn’t bring himself to abandon Hui-On, standing on the edge of a cliff.

A wretchedly scribbled loan agreement on a scrap of napkin. Twenty thousand won a day. To be repaid in cash, no exceptions.

“I’ll chase the bastard who borrowed my money to the ends of hell.”

Each exhausting day only ended after exchanging twenty thousand won. Days piled up where he couldn’t tell if he was repaying debt or accumulating it. Those days gradually took root deep within their lives.
